There was a time where untrained backpackers without credentials could work as English teachers,although there are still places where you could get a job this way it is now recommended to have a diploma or do the CELTA course in Thailand.

A salary example of 30,000 baht will probably be closer to 29,000 baht after tax. basic apartments or other accommodation is probably going to be your main expense. I would say 6,000-8000 baht a month is the minimum you would need to pay in Bangkok for something decent. Then of course there are the smaller costs of laundry, health insurance, transportation, weekend entertainment,computer costs, toiletries and Visas.
Savings will be limited but you will have a fun time in Thailand all the same.
