Isaan is bordered by the Mekong River along the border with Laos.
It is Thailands best region with agriculture being the main source of occupation.
The Thai climate there is hot and dry,making a challenge for the farmers.

The Thai language or dialect of the region is closely linked to the Laos language.

The traditional dress is the sarong worn by men and Thai woman.
They enjoy a number of festivals among them are the Rocket Festival,fertility rite,the candle and silk festivals,elephant round up and Naga fireballs so plenty of interesting things to do.
The most popular festival/show is called Mor Lam it is variety entertainment with traditional song,the main actors been Thai Ladyboys or Katoey been the Thai name.
They are well known for their splendid costumes and slap stick comedy,maybe a bit raunchy for foreigners but well accepted by the locals.
Thai Marriage in Isaan is strictly traditional with payment of Dowry and traditional ceremony,often a surprise to foreigners who do get married there.
